Hands and breath

Breathing With Your Hands In Water

A small reset for anxious moments, heavy afternoons, and the stretch between one task and the next.

Breathing With Your Hands In Water

Hands know where the day has been. They hold mugs, doors, keys, messages, faces, lists, and worries. When the mind is moving faster than the body, return to the hands.

Fill the basin with warm water or let the tap run low. Place both hands beneath it and breathe in for four counts. Hold for two. Breathe out for six. The water gives the breath somewhere to land.

Add soap only if you want the cleanse to become physical. Let the lather gather under each finger. Rinse slowly and notice the exact moment the skin feels bare again.

Keep the ritual close

  1. 01Let warm water touch both palms at once.
  2. 02Breathe in for four, hold for two, breathe out for six.
  3. 03Repeat until the shoulders lower.
  4. 04Dry the hands fully and move into the next thing without rushing.
