Morning rhythm

A Five Minute Morning Cleanse

A short practice for entering the day with clean hands, awake skin, and a steadier center.

A Five Minute Morning Cleanse

Not every morning gives you an hour. Most mornings give you a sink, a towel, and a few minutes before the world begins asking. That can be enough when the ritual is honest.

Begin with the hands. They are the first part of the body to meet the day and often the last part we notice. Cleanse them with attention, then press the remaining lather to the wrists and neck. The point is not ceremony for its own sake. The point is to remember that your body is not separate from your attention.

Finish with one drop of oil at the pulse points. Choose a sentence for the morning and keep it simple. I can move with care. I can begin again. I can listen before I answer.

Keep the ritual close

  1. 01Set the phone away from the sink.
  2. 02Cleanse hands, wrists, and neck with slow pressure.
  3. 03Rinse with cooler water for the final ten seconds.
  4. 04Touch oil to the wrists and breathe once before leaving the room.
